BEN 10th Anniversary Celebration with Karen Allen Presented by Karen Allen to Receive BEN Entrepreneur of the Year Award Karen Allen founder of Karen Allen Fiber Arts in Great Barrington will be recognized by BEN at the organization’s year-end meeting at Aster’s in Pittsfield on June 6 at 5:30 PM. She will be the first recipient of an award that recognizes an outstanding Berkshire County entrepreneur. The event will be combined with a celebration of BEN’s tenth anniversary. The fiber arts business, which she started in 2004 and the retail store on Railroad Street in Great Barrington are Allen’s second Berkshire County entrepreneurial ventures. In 1995 she started Berkshire Mountain Yoga, a business that she later sold. In March of this year, Allen purchased the Rossiter Street building where she launched her yoga practice. And of course, before she was either a yoga teacher or a designer of hand-knitted clothing, Karen Allen was a successful movie actress with starring roles in Animal House, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Starman.
